John Taylor John started playing the cornet at the age of 6 progressing to the trombone as soon as his arms were (nearly) long enough - aged 9. In those days he played with a Salvation Army Band but soon moved on to play with orchestras in Cambridge and Sheffield. His enthusiasm for quintet playing was inspired by the Philip Jones Brass Ensemble whose summer courses he attended for many years. Throughout his musical career he has appeared with: The Lincoln Symphony Orchestra, Lincoln Pro Musica, Grimsby Symphony Orchestra, The Harrogate Symphony Orchestra as well as numerous ensembles and swing bands (including the Modernaires Orchestra in York with whom he still plays).
